He started playing tape ball cricket in the streets of Karachi. His uncle saw his potential and introduced him to Azam Khan the manager of Quetta Gladiators. Azam Khan guided and shaped Saud Shakeel’s career by introducing him to different cricket Academies.
He became associated with the Pakistan Cricket Club and received mentorship from international cricketers like Sarfaraz Ahmed.

He made his first-class debut in 2015 and his List-A debut in 2016. He has since played for Pakistan in all three formats of the game. In various Quaid-e-Azam Trophy seasons, he was the leading run-scorer for Pakistan Television and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Shakeel was part of Pakistan’s squad at the 2014 U-19 World Cup, where he scored 127 runs in 6 innings. He represented Pakistan in the 2018 ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup. He was selected to play for the Quetta Gladiators in the 2018 Pakistan Super League player draft.
Saud Shakeel was named in Pakistan’s Test and limited-overs squads for tours to South Africa, Zimbabwe, and the West Indies in 2021. In October 2021, he captained the Pakistan Shaheens on a tour of Sri Lanka.
Saud was named in Pakistan’s Test squads for series against Bangladesh, Australia, and Sri Lanka in 2021 and 2022.
