Shaheen Shah Afridi also known as Eagle is a Pakistani International Cricketer. He plays as a left-arm fast bowler who can swing the bowl early and is known for taking wickets in the first over.

He is the current captain of the Pakistan National Cricket Team in the T20 Format and also the captain of the Lahore Qalandars Franchise in PSL.

Shaheen Afridi was born on 6 April 2000 in Landi Kotal, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Afridi is the youngest in the family of seven Brothers. His elder brother Riaz Afridi is also a fast bowler who has played one Test Match for Pakistan. He also has a cousin, Yasir Afridi, a professional Pakistani footballer.

Career Journey

He started playing cricket with a tennis ball cricket in the hills of Landi Kotal, a tribal area near Afghanistan. His elder brother, Riaz, recognized Shaheen’s talent as a fast bowler and mentored him in the early stages of his cricketing career.

Shaheen was selected for the Pakistan under-19 cricket team at just 16 years of age before making his debut in first-class cricket. Shaheen performed well in the 2016 under-19 Asia Cup. In 2017, he made his first-class debut in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy. Afridi made the record for best bowling figures by a Pakistani Cricketer in his debut match. Afridi took 8 wickets for just 16 runs.

Afridi continues to perform well as he was the leading wicket-taker for pakistan in the 2018 U19 Cricket World Cup. This led to Afridi’s selection in the Lahore Qalandars Squad for the 2018 PSL.
