Mohammad Wasim Wazir, also known as Wasim Jr., is a Pakistani cricketer who was born on August 25, 2001, in North Waziristan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. He is a right-handed batsman and a right-arm fast-medium bowler.
He is currently playing for Quetta Gladiators in the Pakistan Super League and the Pakistan cricket team.
Wasim Jr. started playing tape ball cricket in his hometown of North Waziristan. His father, Mohammad Wasim Abbasi, always supported his dream of becoming a cricketer.
Career Journey
Due to the lack of facilities there, he had to move to Peshawar where he joined a cricket club before playing at the district level and then at the regional level, finally representing the Pakistan U19 team.
Wasim Jr. made his first-class debut on November 26, 2020, for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, in the 2020–21 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy.
He made his List A debut on January 18, 2021, for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, in the 2020–21 Pakistan Cup.
He made his Twenty20 debut on February 21, 2021, for Islamabad United in the 2021 Pakistan Super League.
He was part of Pakistan’s squad for the 2020 Under-19 Cricket World Cup, replacing Naseem Shah who couldn’t play for the U19 squad as he made his international debut.
