Early Life and Career Journey

Mahendra Singh Dhoni, fondly known as MS Dhoni, was born on July 7, 1981, in Ranchi, Bihar (now in Jharkhand). He comes from a Hindu Rajput family, and he is the youngest of three children to Pan Singh and Devaki Devi. Dhoni’s parents moved from Uttarakhand to Ranchi, where his father worked as a pump operator in junior management at MECON Colony.

Growing up, Dhoni initially played football as the goalkeeper for his school’s team. However, his exceptional wicketkeeping skills caught the eye of his coach, Keshav Ranjan Banerjee, who encouraged him to pursue cricket.

Dhoni’s cricket journey began when he became the regular wicketkeeper at the Commando Cricket Club from 1995 to 1998. He continued to shine and was selected for the 1997/98 Vinoo Mankad Trophy Under-16 Championship, where he showcased his talent.

In 2001-2003, Dhoni worked as a Travelling Ticket Examiner (TTE) at Kharagpur railway station under South Eastern Railway in West Bengal. Despite working, he dedicated himself to cricket and played for Bihar and later for the Jharkhand Cricket team.

Dhoni made his debut in international cricket in 2004 and quickly rose through the ranks. He became the captain of the Indian national team in limited-overs formats in 2007 and in Test cricket in 2008. Under his leadership, India achieved remarkable success, winning major ICC trophies like the 2007 T20 World Cup,2011 ODI World Cup, and 2013 Champion Trophy.
